Crisis Pregnancy Centers…the Real Truth! (Part 2)

Since there are many advocacy groups, websites, and online abortion pharmacies like Hey Jane that consider Pregnancy Resource Centers to be “fake clinics,” we feel compelled to share the full truth about our services so that you can make your own decision.

Here is a continuation of Part 1 in addressing the mistruths about “fake clinics”:

6)   “They offer false advertising.”

Just because there are some organizations that may engage in this kind of poor business practice, you can’t assume that very many of them do.  Our advertisements focus on the services we offer – pregnancy tests, STD testing/treatment, limited ultrasounds, and pre-abortion testing (which includes all three of the services listed above that are needed before an abortion).

We aren’t afraid to tell you we don’t offer abortion services or referrals. We think that’s important because we are a non-bias party giving you accurate information to help you make the best decision possible. Because our services are complimentary and we don’t make referrals, we never benefit financially from your pregnancy decision. This is the case, no matter what choice you make!

7)   They give you “abortion pill information without administering the pill.”

Correct! We do not offer the abortion pill or provide referrals for it. (You likely read that above in #6.) However, we do provide pre-abortion testing. That includes a pregnancy test, STD testing/treatment, and limited ultrasound – all needed before taking the abortion pill – along with information about the pill. To learn more about our free pre-abortion testing and why these services are needed before an abortion, click here

Many women visit one of our clinics to learn the most current pregnancy information and receive no-cost medical confirmation from a licensed nurse, not to get the abortion pill. Some of our clients find out that they may not need an abortion but other resources.

Think of it like this:

If during a regular check-up with your doctor, you are advised that you need a chiropractor and not a back surgeon, wouldn’t that information help you make a decision about where you want to go and who you should call?

How is that any different than a woman coming to our free clinic for pre-abortion testing?   At the Resource Center, women are able to ask questions about all of their options, including the risks and benefits of the abortion pill. They’ll also learn about other community resources where they can find additional supportive help.

8)   “They scare you with false information about cancer or botched procedures.”

Are there health benefits to carrying a pregnancy to term? Absolutely.

Are there dangers if a woman has an ectopic pregnancy and does not find out because she got a mail-order abortion pill? Also Yes, absolutely yes.

When making a pregnancy decision, we believe women deserve support in a safe space to medically discuss and ask questions, so they are empowered to make the best possible decision for themselves.

Our clinic has an overseeing physician and registered nurses who are qualified to provide women with all the necessary medical information they need to make quality decisions.

9)   “They are biased.”

We make no money on your decision one way or the other. If you stop and think about it, what reason do we have to be biased?

10) “They offer you diapers and send you on your way.”

Some do and some don’t offer diapers and material assistance. Ask yourself this, have you ever priced diapers? Why would someone giving a person diapers and material assistance be such a bad thing?

If you think about it, these pregnancy clinics and centers have nothing financially to gain from your decisions. They offer free medical services, parenting classes, and material assistance to those in the community facing an unplanned pregnancy. What is truly wrong with this?

In a time of uncertainty, not everyone wants to pay for answers.

The Resource Centers offer answers for free.  Our clinics, and most of those we are aware of, charge nothing for their services. They will walk with you before and after your abortion decision.  Simple as that.

So, before you assume all clinics are “fake clinics”… take some time. Do your research and look at how you define fake, then make the decision for yourself.

In closing, let’s be honest… if you got pregnant and didn’t want to be, before you get the abortion pill wouldn’t you want to know for sure you were pregnant and how far along you were?

Wouldn’t you want to do that in a clean medical facility? Wouldn’t you love it if that service was completely free? Then you would love our clinic.

We are here for you when, and if, you ever need us.

Abortion – no we don’t do that. All the other stuff? Yep. And it’s free.
